A Brief History of Screen Printing
Screen printing originated in Japan and has evolved from the traditional art of stencil printing on fabric. Cutting intricate patterns was a highly prized skill in Japan, but it was hindered by the inherent fragility of paper stencils, and their tendency to tear during handling and printing. The problem was solved by glueing strands of silk to the stencil to increase its strength and durability. New levels of intricacy were achieved using this technique, and stencils became covered with an ever-expanding mesh of supporting threads. The next logical step was to stretch a piece of woven silk on a wooden frame and then glue the stencil directly onto the silk mesh: the first silk screen was produced. We now use a photo emulsion applied directly to this screen stretched over a wooden or aluminum frame and expose the graphic image onto this photo emulsion by use of an exposure unit. The exposed areas then allow the ink to pass through this area of the screen and be applied to the garment.
Computers and graphic programs today allow for easier setup of the screens and allow us to create more complex designs.
At E! Embroidery we do one, two, three and four colour screen printing on t-shirts, sweatshirts, golf shirts, bags, towels, and team cresting. Advertise your company or event by putting your logo on a t-shirt, we suggest front left chest and full back. If you have people on a job site, other people will see who you are and what you do at a quick glance.

The Canada loves Cuba t-shirt to the left has a three colour print on it,with an approximate cost per shirt based on a minimum of 12 shirts with the same print of $18.50 each plus tax. We can print up to four colour on the front or back of these shirts as shown by this Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular t-shirt.
